Gazing out the conference room window I sit quietly in awe at the expansive view. East of the Île de la Cité, West of the Eiffel Tower and to the South, the sun glimmering on top of the Seine catches my eye. As I study the light reflecting across the water, adding contrast to the river, I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes from the Dali Lama;

“Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into the water, the actions of individuals can have far reaching effects.”

Looking out at the river from the conference room.

At the beginning of this year, Limagrain colleagues from the safety program met in Paris to take part in the annual safety seminar.  The purpose of the seminar is to deepen our knowledge through sharing experiences, exchanging information and having open debates around recent pertinent issues within our organization.  With Limagrain representatives from five continents, the contributions from our colleges spanned vastly different cultural contexts yet shared the same goal: a safer workplace.

Vilmorin, where the conference takes place.

It brings me incredible joy to work with others in our organization who share my passion of improving work place safety for others because ultimately, a safe workplace is a happy workplace.  Our safety committee is in the business of helping our colleagues. Considering that our goal to improve safety in the workplace remains in constant evolution, I can only imagine how the established safety standards and protocols will evolve into something extraordinary. This will most certainly improve the lives of all the people we work with, and it makes me excited.

Have a safe and happy new year,
